December 2013 Winter Wedding | N&J

I don’t usually do weddings but when I do, it is family!  And this is my son and daughter in law.  So fun to see our family grow!!  We could not have picked a better companion for him!DSC01639DSC01650 (1)DSC01778 - Version 2DSC01793DSC01808DSC01814 - Version 2 (1)DSC01836DSC01855DSC01864DSC01901DSC01918DSC01919

Such a cold cold day.  It was about 0 F  ( -18 C ).  They were so patient and easy to work with.

No, this is not the beginning of my wedding photography business.  Au contraire.  I will leave that to the pros.  But it is fun to do family.

Love you J&N.  So much!!!

N&J | Engagement Session | Fall 2013

Silly me.  Forgot to post the engagement session before the Bridal session.

Taken by the Capitol in Salt Lake City.  Gorgeous fall colours.  I just love this couple!!  Cutest couple ever.  If you ask me.DSC05753DSC05769DSC05795DSC05796DSC05841DSC05866DSC05957DSC05982DSC06059 (1)

My favourite is this last one, at sunset. With the city below.  And no, I did not add the moon in Photoshop.  This is as real as it gets.

Thanks for stopping by!

“Till next time!

Winter Bride

Such a cold day.  Close to 0 F.  Up in the beautiful mountains of Utah.

Dear J.   Thanks so much for asking me to do this session.  You and your mom were such good sports, walking in the snow, with your dress, on such a cold but beautiful day.

Love you.

Jumping for Snow – December 2013

It was a cold but not stormy day.  It was our first time meeting together.  And in spite of the cold, we had a really fun session.

DSC00917DSC00945 - Version 2DSC00982DSC00997DSC01000DSC01005DSC01009DSC01024DSC01033DSC01035DSC01040DSC01062DSC01069DSC01079

And we ended with a few silly pictures with the ugly Christmas sweaters.  These guys were so fun to work with, not hesitating to do the awkward looking away, holding the dog child!!

Thanks V&W for being so fun to work with!!!

‘Til next time

Bye Bye 2013

Last post of the year!  And I chose this session from 2012. The Costco Session.  This is true, real life photo session.  I didn’t tell the kids to do anything.  I just followed them around, with the mothers’ permission, of course!  They didn’t have to smile or even look at me.  Didn’t tell them to lay down on boxes or hold mom’s hand.  They were free to be themselves.  At Costco!  Oh happy day!!

Why take pictures at Costco?  My oldest is almost 23 and youngest is 11, with 2 kids in between.  I took many pictures of birthdays and Christmas over the years.  However, I never took pictures at Costco.  I have spent so many hours there with the kids in tote.  I actually miss the craziness of taking kids there.  Now, I can take as long as I want or go as quickly as I need to.  I go by myself.  Teenagers don’t want to tag along except on rare occasions.

If I could do it all over again, I would take my camera and take pictures of my kids at Costco, or Target or wherever.  Yes, even just my iPhone.  These pictures aren’t award winning.  But they are precious in a mother’s heart.  Time goes by so fast.  Too fast.

Pictures don’t have to be perfect.  They help you remember slices of your life.  So, go. Take pictures of your day to day life.  You don’t need fancy cameras.  Just have fun.DSC07024DSC07033DSC07038DSC07046DSC07053DSC07067DSC07069DSC07072DSC07075DSC07100

Thanks C & S for letting me hang out with you and the kids at my favourite store.  You guys are the best!!!
